During the previous weekend, from May 15 to 17, 50 traffic accidents were recorded on Montenegrin roads, in which two people died - in Podgorica and Cetinje, the Police Directorate announced.
They added that three people suffered serious injuries, while 16 suffered minor injuries.
"During the same period, traffic police officers, as part of repressive activities, filed 190 misdemeanor reports, issued 1.799 misdemeanor warrants, temporarily confiscated 25 pairs of license plates, and removed the same number of vehicles from traffic," the statement said.
As they said, 65 drivers were arrested, of which: 28 for driving under the influence of alcohol in the body in a concentration greater than 1g/kg or refusing to take a breathalyzer test, eight for driving under the influence of narcotic drugs or other psychoactive substances or refusing to submit to testing, and 29 for committing other serious violations under the Road Traffic Safety Act.
"Of the total number of persons deprived of their liberty, the most were deprived of their liberty in Podgorica - 27 drivers, followed by four drivers each in Budva and Bijelo Polje, and three drivers each in Danilovgrad and Kotor," the statement concludes.
