Although the total number of crimes increased by 11 percent compared to 2024, the Bijelo Polje police recorded a high rate of solved cases in 2025, while the number of crimes against life and limb decreased by more than a quarter.
This is stated in the Security Report that will be presented to the local parliament members, and which was signed by the head of the Regional Center "North". Haris Đurđević.
The security situation in that municipality, as assessed in the document, is stable and very favorable.
"In the area of the Bijelo Polje Security Department in 2025, 306 (277 the year before) criminal offenses were registered. 278 criminal reports were filed with the competent prosecutor's office, against 307 natural persons and four legal entities," the report states.
Of the total number of registered crimes, 29 related to unknown perpetrators, of which 24 were solved.
In the area of general crime, 215 (185 in the previous year) criminal offenses (CJD) were registered in the area of general crime, which is an increase of 16,2 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
"In the area of criminal offenses against life and body, 14 criminal offenses were registered, 10 criminal reports were filed with the competent prosecutor's office, as follows: three criminal offenses of serious bodily injury, 11 criminal offenses of minor bodily injury. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of criminal offenses against life and body is 26 percent lower. In the area of criminal offenses against property, 22 criminal offenses were registered, or an increase of 37,5 percent compared to the comparable period in 2024. 21 criminal reports were filed with the competent prosecutors. Unknown perpetrators committed 19 criminal offenses. Operational measures and actions solved 16 criminal offenses or 84 percent."
In the area of economic crime, as stated, 81 criminal offenses were registered. 74 criminal charges were filed against 84 individuals and four legal entities. The material damage covered by the criminal charges amounts to 248.176,09 euros, which is 104.531,59 euros more than in the previous year.
In 2025, 11 criminal reports were filed for the criminal offenses of forest theft, five for construction of a building without a building permit, one for fraud, 22 for illegal trade, two for abuse of official position, three for illegal occupation of land, one for usury, 19 for forgery of documents, one each for forgery of a document for an extended period and for forgery of money, three for smuggling, four for abuse of position in business, one for environmental pollution, three for removal and violation of an official seal, one for giving a false statement and three for inducing the certification of false content.
When it comes to drug smuggling and abuse, 10 criminal offenses were registered in 2025, and 10 criminal charges were filed with the competent prosecutor against 10 individuals. In the same period in 2024, 14 such criminal charges were registered. 58 seizures of various types of drugs were made, which is 48,71 percent more than in 2024, when there were 39 seizures.
In the reporting period, nine criminal offenses were recorded, committed by 10 minors.
In the area of general crime, 29 criminal offenses were recorded, 10 serious offenses against traffic safety, two attacks on an official. 68 criminal offenses of domestic violence and 18 illegal possession of weapons and explosive devices were registered.
The number of violations of public order and committed offenses has decreased compared to 2024 and the state of public order and peace has been assessed as 'very favorable'.
During 2025, 1.869 orders were delivered to the Bijelo Polje Police Station in the forced collection procedure, and 96.828,50 euros were collected (48.799 euros in the previous year).
During 2025, officers of the Bijelo Polje Police Station seized 71 firearms, of which 28 were in illegal and 43 were in legal possession, and 3,657 pieces of ammunition of various calibers. In addition to firearms, police officers found and seized 88 pieces of other weapons (gas pistols, knives). As part of the campaign "Respect life, return weapons", 252 firearms, 4.482 pieces of ammunition of various calibers, and 49 hand grenades were returned.
In traffic, as stated, last year five people were killed, 37 people suffered serious injuries, while 112 suffered minor injuries. Compared to 2024, the number of traffic accidents increased by 15 or 7.6 percent.
Three drivers were arrested for causing a traffic accident, and nine for violating the misdemeanor law.
"During 2025, eight disciplinary proceedings were initiated against 17 police officers for serious disciplinary offenses. During 2025, means of coercion were used in two cases, which were assessed as justified and in accordance with the Law on Internal Affairs. In 2025, eight petitions - citizen complaints about the work of the police were submitted by citizens, and they were assessed as unfounded. The complainants were provided with responses with instructions on the right to object to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In the period from 2023 to March 2026, a total of 29 police officers were retired at the level of the Bijelo Polje Police Station, of which 14 police officers retired in 2025. Based on the public call of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 17 new police officers were hired, thus ensuring optimal staffing.
