Court of Appeal: Veselin Perišić guilty of abuse of office, sentenced to six months of house arrest

The Court of Appeals today found the former bankruptcy administrator of the Podgorica Aluminum Plant (KAP), Veselin Perišić, guilty of abuse of office and sentenced him to six months of house arrest.

"The Court of Appeals accepted the appeal of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica and reversed the verdict of the Podgorica Higher Court, by declaring Perišić guilty of the criminal offense of abuse of official position and sentencing him to six months in prison, which he will serve in the premises where he lives," the decision stated.

After completing the hearing, the Appellate Court Panel announced its decision on the appeal of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office against the High Court's verdict from April last year.

Perišić was acquitted of charges of abuse of office by the first-instance verdict of the Higher Court, because it was not proven that he committed the criminal offense.
