Vučić: Expected decision of the Montenegrin court in Andrej's case, they didn't say he was wrong

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that the decision of the court in Podgorica, which dismissed as unfounded the lawsuit filed by his brother Andrej against the daily newspaper Vijesti regarding the publication of the Sky correspondence, was expected, reports N1.

"I don't even know what he needed to sue them, a normal person thinks when someone writes that he killed, that he dealt drugs, that someone will get to the bottom of things, just pay attention, they didn't get to the merits of the matter, they don't say he's wrong, they say you have to suffer since you're a public figure," Vučić told Serbian media reporters in Shanghai, where he spoke with representatives of Chinese companies.

Vučić said that he was going to Tivat, to the summit of representatives of the European Union and the Western Balkans, only because European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen invited him.

"I'm going because Ursula von der Leyen invited me, otherwise I wouldn't go, I won't go via Beijing, but I'll decide for myself how I'll go, maybe I'll go via Trebinje to spite Đilas, or maybe I won't, I'm a free man, I choose my own path. I'm going to go to Tivat, to wait for all those very brave people who are taking advantage of my family to explain everything to my face," Vučić said.

The Podgorica Basic Court took the position that the publication of Sky correspondences mentioning the brother of Serbian President Andrej Vučić was in the public interest, and that he, as a public figure and active participant in the political life of that country, must suffer a wider degree of public criticism and public interest.

This is stated in the first-instance verdict that rejected the Belgrade resident's request that "Vijesti", editor-in-chief Mihailo Jovović, editor of the black chronicle Danilo Mihajlović and journalist Jelena Jovanović jointly pay him 5.000 euros for violation of honor, reputation and dignity. In the same decision, Vučić is obliged to pay the defendants 3.403,12 euros in civil proceedings costs.

Judge Jelena Anđelić also rejected the request to remove from the "Vijesti" portal the text published on January 23, 2024 under the title "Zvonko and Andrej celebrated a billion...", as well as to have the editor-in-chief publish the verdict at his own expense.

The subject of the proceedings was an article in which "Vijesti" quoted parts of the Sky communication, which, according to the case files, was conducted by fugitive police officer Ljubo Milović and Miloš Božović from Nikšić, and which mentions the security services of Montenegro and Serbia, criminal clans, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, his brother Andrej, and businessman from Kosovo Zvonko Veselinović.
