Vučić is silent about Miloš Medenica and the people of Kavča

For more than ten days, Serbia has not responded to the Montenegrin police, on the basis of which the country's president claims that the Kavač clan is protecting the territory of Montenegro. Miloš Medenica.

Aleksandar Vučić made the announcement on May 16, responding to reporters' questions about allegations that his brother Andrej Vucic the owner of the restaurant where he was murdered a few days earlier Aleksandar Nesovic.

Two days earlier, Medenica announced the arrest of the Chief of the Belgrade Police Department in a video posted on social media. Veselin Milić, stating that he organized a meeting between two criminals - Aleksandar Nešović Baja, who was killed that night, and Saša Vuković Bosket, who is charged with liquidation. Medenica also said that the restaurant "27" in Senjak is owned by the brother of the President of Serbia.

"Following the information presented by the President of the Republic of Serbia and reported by the media in that country, the Police Directorate, through international operational police cooperation, i.e. through the EUROPOL channel, has sent an urgent request to the competent police authorities of the Republic of Serbia to verify the aforementioned information and provide all useful operational and other data that may be of importance to the Police Directorate of Montenegro in order to locate and detain the internationally wanted person," the Police Directorate, headed by Lazar Scepanovic.

They also specified that they sent this request on the same day that the information was released to the public.

"By the time the response was submitted to your editorial office (May 28th, ed.), the competent police authorities of the Republic of Serbia had not submitted a response," the Police Department said.

Medenica has been on the run since January 28, when he was sentenced by a non-final verdict to 10 years and two months in prison for creating a criminal organization, the extended criminal offense of smuggling, two criminal offenses of unlawful influence through aiding and abetting, and for preventing the production of evidence.

He was acquitted of charges of illegal possession of a weapon and facilitating the consumption of narcotics by multiple persons. On the same day, his mother Vesna Medenica she was sentenced to a decade in prison.

The Medenices did not attend the verdict, and even before the decision was announced, the police determined that Miloš Medenice was not in the family apartment at Ulcinjska 2 in Podgorica, and subsequent investigation determined that he had left just a few hours before the criminal panel's decision was announced in the courtroom.

An international arrest warrant was issued for him the day after the verdict was pronounced.

In the meantime, he has repeatedly made serious accusations against individuals from the security sector in Montenegro and Serbia, as well as the Vučić brothers, via digital platforms and in video addresses.

After the initial release, the police announced that it was synthetically generated material, that is, that the video was created using tools based on artificial intelligence with the aim of creating a false impression and misleading the public.

They did not comment on the announcements that followed.

In mid-May, Vučić said that Miloš Medenica had fabricated that his brother was the owner of the restaurant where Nešović was killed on May 12th.

Miloš Medenica, who was convicted by a final verdict and who, according to our intelligence, is protected by the 'Kavač clan' and is being held on the territory of Montenegro. Who is not reporting to serve his sentence, the son of the former president of the Supreme Court Vesne Medenica". Since the Kavčani hold him, they have failed in their lives because they only have a problem with one leader in the Balkans, like the others, and that is Aleksandar Vučić. Since they obviously don't have many problems with other leaders. And then when he tells everything he heard from his colleagues, because some of them are drug dealers who participated in that, then they have to involve the family of the one who bothers them the most, who represents their biggest problem," Vučić said that day.

Nešović was killed on the evening of May 12th, in the restaurant “27” in Senjak. He was reported missing a day later, and his remains were found on May 21st in a barrel that was dug up in the territory of the Inđija municipality.

DNA analysis determined that he was Aleksandar Nešović.

Due to the aggravated murder of Nešović and other related crimes, the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade is conducting an investigation against 11 people, including Milić and three Belgrade police officers.

Vesna constitutionally in custody

The Constitutional Court of Montenegro rejected as unfounded the constitutional appeal of former President of the Supreme Court Vesna Medenica against the decisions ordering detention after a conviction, because the courts explained in a constitutionally acceptable manner that there was a risk of flight.

This was announced yesterday by the Constitutional Court, stating that at the session of all judges, a majority of votes assessed that the High Court in Podgorica and the Court of Appeal, regarding the risk of flight, provided detailed, interconnected and specific reasons that go beyond mere formalism, primarily based on the fact that she was sentenced to ten years in prison by a non-final decision.

In addition, they add, regular courts have given special weight to the fact that Vesna Medenica's son Miloš Medenica, who was also convicted in the same proceedings, is on the run, and that there is a real possibility that he could help her hide.

"The Constitutional Court assesses that this circumstance is of particular importance, because it does not represent a hypothetical assumption, but rather concrete and current factual information that indicates the existence of potential logistical support for the avoidance of justice," the Constitutional Court's decision states.

Medenica was taken to the pretrial detention center a month after the first-instance verdict was pronounced - on February 28th.

SDT calls for harsher penalties

The Special State Prosecutor's Office appealed the first-instance verdict of the Higher Court against Medenica and members of his criminal organization, seeking harsher sentences.

With this decision, Miloš Medenica was sentenced to ten years and two months in prison, and his mother Vesna Medenica to a decade in prison.

Ivana Kovačević was sentenced to four and a half years in prison and a fine of 15.000 euros, Stevo Karanikić and Marijan Bevenja to four years each, Goran Jovanović to three years and 10.000 euros, Jovan Miković to three years and ten months and 10.000 euros, Vojin Perunović to two years and 2.000 euros, Petar Milutinović to three years and 5.000 euros, Milorad Medenica to three years and two months and 3.000 euros, Darko Lalović and Marko Popović to one year each, Luka Bakoč and Radomir Raičević to one year and four months each, Bojan Popović to six months, and Vasilije Petrović to one year in prison, with the forfeiture of 150.000 euros.

“Kopad Company” was punished by the termination of its legal entity.

The appeal was filed due to violations of criminal procedure, incorrectly and incompletely determined facts and decisions on penalties.

The Special State Prosecutor's Office proposed that the verdict be overturned in the acquittal part and the case be retried, and that the conviction part be modified so that some defendants will be given stricter prison sentences and fines, while others will be given lighter ones.
