UP: Convict in UIKS suspected of raping another convict

The Danilovgrad police filed a criminal complaint with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica against VB (22) from Podgorica, on suspicion of raping a 53-year-old man, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.

Both persons, the suspect and the injured party, are convicted persons and are serving prison sentences at the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions (UIKS) in Spuž.

"The criminal offense was reported by UIKS employees to the Danilovgrad Security Department on May 22, 2026, after which police officers, in coordination and on the order of the competent prosecutor, took a series of measures and actions, which led to the identification of VB as a suspect in the aforementioned criminal offense," the statement states.

The police add that it is suspected that VB committed the crime of rape the night before, on the night between May 20 and 21, 2026, at around 3:00 a.m., in a room in a UIKS pavilion.

"The rape victim reported the incident to UIKS employees, who then informed the police. Criminal charges against VB were filed with the competent state prosecutor in the regular procedure," it concludes.
