A man from Cetinje was arrested, suspected of breaking windows at Terminal 1 of Tivat Airport.

A 32-year-old Cetinje resident was arrested for throwing stones at the Tivat airport terminal, the Police Directorate (UP) told "Vijesti" unofficially.

According to unofficial information, Tivat Airport reported on Wednesday evening that three panes of glass were broken in the terminal windows.

This incident occurred a few hours after the police yesterday first detained, and then deported from Montenegro 87 Serbian citizens who, for security reasons, were not allowed to enter Montenegro via Tivat Airport, where they arrived in the morning hours on a special Air Serbia charter plane.

However, it is not yet known whether last night's incident is in any way connected to the detention and deportation of this group, which, according to a statement from the Montenegrin police, included several persons of security interest.

Some of them have been prosecuted in Serbia for various crimes and misdemeanors, some of which are related to incidents at student protests in that country against the regime of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

According to unofficial information from "Vijesti", the perpetrator of last night's incident with damage to several windows at Terminal 1, although Tivat Airport is a protected facility that, in addition to airport security, is also secured by a large number of police officers, drove his car in front of the terminal, got out of the vehicle and, unhindered by anyone, attacked the closed entrance doors of the terminal and broke the windows, and then drove away from the airport in his car.

The entire incident was recorded by surveillance cameras, and that footage helped police identify and arrest the perpetrator today.

However, the very fact that this incident occurred, especially in the context of a heightened police and security presence in Tivat, where the EU-Western Balkans Summit begins tomorrow, is very serious and, as we unofficially learn, the security services will specifically analyze how this could have happened in a situation where airport security had to prevent any unauthorized access to the terminal at a time when the airport was closed to traffic.
