Podgorica: Three people suspected of theft arrested, marijuana found

Podgorica police officers, in coordination with the Basic and Higher State Prosecutor's Offices in Podgorica, arrested three people suspected of theft and drug abuse.

As they state, officers of the Podgorica Security Department solved two criminal cases of theft committed against two sports betting shops in the territory of Podgorica and, on the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, arrested MP (36) and SR (35).

"It is suspected that the above-mentioned persons, on two consecutive days, on June 6 and 7, 2026, committed two thefts in a way that MP first entered the sports betting facilities to check whether there were service users there, after which SR entered the facility and stole money from the cash register in a total amount of approximately 1.190 euros. Taking further action against these persons, police officers searched the facility used by SR. On that occasion, a certain amount of marijuana was found, as well as a grinder," they said.

They add that the competent state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica has been notified of the aforementioned event, who will subsequently comment on the legal qualification of the event.

"Officers of the Podgorica Security Department, acting on the order of the competent state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, deprived PB (25) of his liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs. Namely, police officers inspected the vehicle driven by PB. On that occasion, two packages of marijuana were found during the inspection of the vehicle. A passenger motor vehicle, a mobile phone, as well as money in the amount of 600 euros were temporarily seized from PB for further checks," they said.
