Podgorica police have identified and are intensively searching for Tomislav Šćepanović and Miša Vešović from Podgorica, on suspicion of causing serious bodily harm to the councilor in the capital's Assembly, Milivoje Brković, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.
"Officers of the Podgorica Security Department, in cooperation with the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, have identified and are intensively searching for T. Š. and MV from Podgorica, two persons of operational interest, on suspicion that in Podgorica, on the night between June 02 and 03, 2026, they committed the criminal offense of violent behavior in conjunction with the criminal offense of grievous bodily harm, to the detriment of MB," the statement reads.
According to the police, it is suspected that Šćepanović and Vešović physically attacked Brković on the said evening around midnight, at the intersection of Bulevar Revolucije and Moskovska Street, after Brković defended the integrity of a woman who was being harassed by these two individuals.
"The injured MB and a male person who was with him then approached the Podgorica Security Department on the said night where they reported the incident, and MB was then taken to the Clinical Center of Montenegro where it was determined that he had suffered a fractured jaw and where he was detained for further treatment. The competent state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was notified of the incident, who legally qualified the incident," the UP statement states.
During the investigative measures and actions to locate the aforementioned suspects, the UP added, VV, the brother of the suspect Vešović, falsely reported himself to the police as the perpetrator of the attack on Brković, and the police immediately, without delay, filed a criminal report against him with the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of false reporting.
"Police officers are in communication with the injured party MB, as well as with the Clinical Center, to exchange information and monitor the injured party's health condition. In coordination with the competent state prosecutor, the police are taking all necessary activities to find, detain and prosecute the suspects, with a national search being launched for these two individuals," it concludes.
