Russian citizen arrested in Božaj, handed over false documents, found to be on Interpol's wanted list

Border police officers arrested Russian citizen EG (45), suspected of having handed over false Ukrainian documents at the Božaj border crossing, and further checks determined that he was the person for whom an international Interpol arrest warrant had been issued, the Police Directorate announced.

As they said, border police officers at Božaj checked Montenegrin citizen AT, who was accompanied by EG in the vehicle, and who presented documents in the name of DR (44), a citizen of Ukraine.

"In cooperation with FRONTEX officers, by checking the passport and ID card that this person provided for inspection, it was determined that these were forged documents. After conducting criminal processing and additional checks, the real identity of this person was determined, and that it was EG (45), a citizen of the Russian Federation. By order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, EG was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of forging a document," the statement said.

As they add, further checks, conducted in cooperation with the Interpol NCB Podgorica, determined that an international arrest warrant issued by the Interpol NCB Moscow was in force for Russian citizen EG, born in Azerbaijan.

"The named person is wanted by order of the Kanavinsky District Court in Nizhny Novgorod, to serve a five-year prison sentence for the criminal offense of fraud on a particularly large scale. The named person will be brought before the competent prosecutor within the legal deadline," the Police Directorate announced.
