Zeković: Demonizing journalist Jelena Jovanović for her work represents a type of political madness

The demonization of journalist Jelena Jovanović because of her work represents a type of political madness, Aleksandar Saša Zeković, an activist for human rights and the politics of memory, said today.

"Threats against journalist Jelena Jovanović continue and they are unacceptable, regardless of their format, interest or ideological nest from which they come. It is commendable that society is reacting because this means that the normalization of violence in Montenegrin society is impossible, regardless of who the victim is. The demonization of journalist Jelena Jovanović because of her work represents a kind of political madness. Silence on this indicates a crisis of civic and democratic identity in any of us, but also our selfishness and cowardice. Silence on concrete violence and primitivism should especially be rejected and stopped by those who still perceive themselves or self-declare themselves as members of sovereign political, civic, intellectual or activist structures," Zeković emphasized in a statement.
