Podgorica police arrested two people and filed criminal charges against three for the criminal offenses of robbery, aggravated theft and theft, committed in the territory of the Capital City, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.
"Police officers, upon the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, deprived DK (44), a returnee in the commission of criminal offenses in the field of property crime, of his liberty on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of attempted robbery," the UP statement said.
It is suspected, the police added, that on June 9, at around 9:00 p.m., DK came to a kiosk on Bulevar Svetog Petra Cetinjskog, where he threatened the employee with a knife and uttered threatening words to her life and limb, demanding that she hand over money.
"At that moment, a customer approached the establishment and then notified the police of the incident," the statement said.
As the Police Department said, on the order of the State Prosecutor, police officers filed a criminal complaint against IP (45) on suspicion of committing the crime of aggravated theft against a person from Podgorica.
"Namely, it is suspected that on May 26, in the early morning hours, IP came to a house under construction owned by the injured party, on which occasion he stole a construction machine, 120 meters of electrical cables, as well as several pieces of copper installation pipes. After committing the crime, IP is suspected of selling the stolen items to various individuals at several locations in the city," the statement states.
They added that Đ. J. (30) was arrested on suspicion of committing the crime of theft, to the detriment of a Turkish citizen.
"It is suspected that on June 1, while in a gambling establishment, Đ. J. stole a mobile phone from a foreign citizen, which was later found with the perpetrator and returned to the owner," it concludes.
