Šćepanović-Unlu meeting: Relations and cooperation between the police services of Montenegro and Turkey are traditionally good and substantial

Bilateral relations and cooperation between the police services of Montenegro and Turkey are traditionally good and substantial, it was assessed at a meeting between the Director of the Police Administration, Lazar Šćepanović, and the Turkish Ambassador to Podgorica, Ayda Unlu.

As announced by the Police Directorate, the meeting discussed the implementation of planned bilateral cooperation activities between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Police Directorate of Montenegro and the Turkish Police for the current year, as well as the continuation of the professional development program planned with the Turkish Police.

"It was particularly emphasized that operational police cooperation, which is largely based on continuous operational communication and exchange of information and data, through NCB Interpol Podgorica and NCB Interpol Ankara, the Europol Contact Point of Turkey and the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Podgorica, is of exceptional importance for both countries," the statement said.

It is stated that the goal is to more efficiently combat all forms of transnational organized crime, as well as to locate, identify and arrest perpetrators of criminal acts and persons for whom international arrest warrants have been issued.

"Šćepanović and Unlu concluded that both sides remain committed to further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and improving police cooperation, through intensifying the exchange of operational information, implementing joint activities and professional training of police officers, with the aim of more effectively combating transnational organized crime, strengthening institutional capacities and responding to other contemporary security challenges of common interest," the police said.
