Traffic regime changed until October 15 on several roads in Montenegro

Traffic regulations will be changed on several roads in Montenegro from Monday to October 15 due to the expected increased traffic frequency during the summer tourist season, the Police Directorate announced.

As stated, the police director issued an order temporarily banning the traffic of freight vehicles and restricting the traffic of all categories of vehicles on the roads, due to the expected increased traffic frequency during the summer tourist season and the need to ensure safe and uninterrupted traffic.

The traffic of freight vehicles, whose maximum permissible mass exceeds 7,5 tons, from June 15 to September 15, from Monday to Friday, from 7 p.m. to midnight, will be prohibited from the border crossing (BC) Debeli Brijeg–Herceg Novi–Kotor–Tivat (Krtolska intersection)–Budva–Bar–Ulcinj–BC Sukobin, Podgorica – Sotonići–Petrovac, Podgorica–Mioska–Kolašin and Podgorica–Cetinje–Budva.

From June 15 to September 15, on Saturdays and Sundays, from 5 pm to midnight, traffic will be prohibited from Debeli Brijeg Border Crossing - Herceg Novi - Kotor - Tivat (Krtolska intersection) - Budva - Bar - Ulcinj - Sukobin Border Crossing, Podgorica - Sotonići - Petrovac, Podgorica - Mioska - Kolašin and Podgorica - Cetinje - Budva.

In the period from June 15 to October 15, every day from 24 am to midnight, traffic will be prohibited on the regional road Kotor - Trojica, to the town of Krstac in Cetinje.

Traffic will be prohibited for light and heavy buses, vans and campers, from June 15 to October 15, from midnight to midnight, daily, from the village of Krstac in the municipality of Cetinje, to the village of Trojica in Kotor, from the direction of Njeguša towards Kotor, as well as the section Međuvršje - Lovćen, from the parking area to the Mausoleum, in both directions.

The police said that the ban on the order does not apply to vehicles with priority of passage, vehicles for road maintenance and PTT installations, roadside assistance vehicles, special vehicles for transporting animals, concrete and asphalt mass.

The ban does not apply to refrigerated trucks transporting perishable goods, water transport vehicles, or vehicles transporting hazardous materials on the section of the main road from the Debeli Brijeg border crossing through Herceg Novi and Kamenari to the roundabout in Lipci.

It is stated that, in addition to monitoring compliance with the order, police officers will also take additional measures and activities to prevent the formation of columns of freight vehicles after the traffic ban expires, through the gradual and time-controlled inclusion of freight vehicles in traffic, with mandatory warnings to drivers to respect the prescribed distance between vehicles.

"The Police Directorate appeals to all traffic participants to respect the above measures and traffic signs, in order to preserve the safety of all citizens and tourists during the tourist season and enable the smooth flow of traffic on the most frequented road routes," the statement said.
