Nikšić police arrested ML (32) from Nikšić and seized from him a "Zastava M70" pistol, which he is suspected of having previously used to threaten other family members, the Police Directorate (UP) announced today.
The statement states that Nikšić police officers acted upon a report of domestic violence.
"The Nikšić Security Department's duty service was informed on June 12, 2026, at around 1:00 a.m. by a family member of this person that in the family home located in a settlement in Nikšić, ML was committing violence against other family members and threatening them with firearms," the statement states.
The UP added that police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, but that ML had already fled the house.
"With the timely response and deployment of the service, he was soon located and brought to the official premises, and the firearm - a pistol - was temporarily seized from him. The state prosecutor on duty at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić was informed about everything, and he stated that ML's actions constitute essential elements of the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosive substances in conjunction with the criminal offense of violence in the family or in the family community. ML was, by order of the competent prosecutor, deprived of his liberty and, with a criminal report, will be brought to the prosecutor for further jurisdiction within the legal deadline," the UP said.
