One Nikšić resident arrested, criminal charges filed against another for drug abuse

Police in Nikšić arrested VK (37) and filed criminal charges against JP (26) on suspicion of drug abuse.

As announced by the police, their officers yesterday checked a VW Golf passenger vehicle driven by VK from Nikšić, while his fellow citizen JP (26) was a passenger in the vehicle.

"During the control of VK's person and vehicle, a certain amount of psychoactive substances on the list of narcotic drugs was found and seized. Further criminal investigation led to suspicion that JP enabled VK to consume the aforementioned opiates, which was reported to the state prosecutor on duty at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić," the police statement said.

The prosecutor stated that the actions of JP constitute essential elements of the criminal offense of facilitating the consumption of narcotic drugs and ordered that criminal charges be filed against JP in the regular procedure, while in relation to VK, the prosecutor stated that this was a violation under the Law on the Prevention of Drug Abuse, the police said.

After that, the police arrested VK for the offense and brought him before the duty judge of the Minor Offense Court in Podgorica - Nikšić Department within the legal deadline.
