Ministry of Interior and police ready for tourist season: Priorities: efficient passenger flow and fight against cross-border crime

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police Directorate are welcoming the summer tourist season prepared, with clearly defined priorities and full operational capacities.

Minister of Interior Danilo Šaranović and Director of the Police Administration Lazar Šćepanović held a meeting with the Assistant Director for the Border Police Sector Dejan Bojić, as well as the heads of the regional border police centers Center, South and North, Branislav Knežević, Jozo Lukolić and Slaviša Grebović.

The topic of the meeting was the preparations for the summer tourist season, the analysis of available human and technical capacities, as well as defining priorities in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of passengers, while simultaneously taking decisive action to combat all forms of cross-border crime.

"In this context, special attention has been paid to the organization of work and functioning of border crossings at the airports of Podgorica and Tivat, as well as the most frequent road border crossings, where a significant increase in the intensity of passenger and road traffic is expected during the summer months," the Ministry of Interior announced.

It was noted that additional engagement of officers, adequate allocation of capacities and continuous coordination will create conditions for smooth traffic flow and faster passenger flow, while simultaneously implementing intensified activities aimed at detecting and preventing smuggling of people, drugs, weapons and other forms of cross-border crime.

It was emphasized that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police Directorate, through a proactive and coordinated approach, will continue to ensure a high level of security, efficient protection of the state border and the smooth running of international passenger traffic.

"The commitment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police Directorate has been confirmed, with full dedication and professional attitude of all organizational units, to contribute to preserving the safety of citizens and tourists and further strengthening the international reputation of Montenegro as a safe tourist destination," the statement concludes.
