UP: 250 grams of marijuana found, one person arrested

Podgorica police arrested IP (41) after a search of his vehicle and apartment found 250 grams of marijuana, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.

"Officers of the Podgorica Security Department undertook planned and targeted activities aimed at combating drug abuse and street drug sales in the territory of the Capital City, and deprived one person of his liberty, in whose possession approximately 250 grams of marijuana were found. Last night, at around 22 p.m., acting on operational information, police officers inspected a vehicle driven by IP (41), while OK (36) was in the passenger seat," the UP statement states.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, the UP added, a larger PVC package containing marijuana, weighing about 220 grams, was found hidden under the hood.

"The aforementioned persons were brought to the official police premises, where information was collected from them on the circumstances of the event. Taking further measures and actions, in coordination with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, police officers searched the apartment used by the IP and on that occasion found and confiscated one glass jar containing plant matter resembling marijuana, weighing approximately 25 grams, several empty PVC bags, as well as one scale for precise measurement," it is stated.

After the measures and actions taken, by order of the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, IP was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs.

"The suspect will be brought before the acting prosecutor today, with a criminal complaint, for further proceedings," it concludes.
