Border police officers "North" arrested an Albanian citizen suspected of illegal fishing, the Police Directorate announced.
As they state, officers of the Plav border police, in cooperation with Frontex officers, conducted field observation in the area of the Gusinje municipality, on the border with the Republic of Albania, and on that occasion controlled Albanian citizens: VT (41) and a seventeen-year-old minor, who were caught fishing illegally.
"On that occasion, underwater fishing equipment was seized from these individuals, including an underwater rifle. The aforementioned individuals were brought to the official premises of the Border Police Station, where information was collected from them," they said.
They add that the competent state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Plav was notified of the incident, who stated that in this specific case there are elements of the criminal offense of illegal fishing.
"By order of the prosecutor, the suspects were deprived of their liberty and, with a criminal complaint, were taken to the competent prosecutor's office for further proceedings," they conclude.
