Forty-year-old Marko Mimić from Serbia, who is wanted by Austria, was arrested in Petrovac, the Police Directorate (UP) announced.

The security institution pointed out that officers of the NCB Interpol Podgorica - FAST team for targeted search, in cooperation with officers of the Budva Security Department, located and arrested an internationally wanted person "on Austria's red warrant" in Petrovac today.

"The international operation was carried out in coordination with the Austrian FAST team, through the exchange of operational and intelligence data, which enabled the precise location of MM (40), a citizen of the Republic of Serbia, in the Petrovac area.

On 17 June 2026, an international red warrant was issued for MM by the NCB Interpol Vienna on suspicion of having committed several criminal offences in the field of organised crime, as well as the criminal offence of illicit production, possession and trafficking of narcotic drugs - cocaine. After conducting intensive checks and collecting operational information, officers of the NCB Interpol Podgorica successfully located and deprived the internationally wanted person of his liberty within less than 24 hours of issuing the warrant," the UP announced.

They stated that further communication will follow between the Interpol NCB Podgorica and the Interpol NCB Vienna regarding the extradition procedure and the handover of the person to the competent judicial authorities in Austria.

"Officers of the FAST team of the Interpol NCB Podgorica continue with intensive activities to locate and detain internationally wanted persons, through continuous operational cooperation with FAST teams, partner services and international police organizations," the UP said.
