The Podgorica police have filed a criminal complaint against Saša Radulović (55) from Podgorica, whom they suspect of having committed the criminal offense of usury, that is, of having lent the victim 5.500 euros and collected around 28.000 euros in usurious interest.
The Police Directorate announced that officers of the Podgorica Police Department, undertaking continuous activities to detect, clarify and prove criminal offenses in the field of property crime, have shed light on the criminal offense of usury and today, upon the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, filed a criminal report against a person from Podgorica.
"Due to suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of usury, a criminal complaint has been filed against SR (55) from Podgorica. It is suspected that in October 2022, SR lent money to the injured party in the amount of 5.500 euros, after which, taking advantage of his difficult financial situation, he contracted and charged usurious interest of 10 percent on a monthly basis. In this way, it is suspected that from October 2022 until the filing of the criminal complaint, he collected around 28.000 euros in usurious interest from the injured party, although the injured party has in the meantime fully settled the debt, whereby SR obtained a disproportionate unlawful material benefit for himself," the police announced.
They allege that even after the victim paid him the entire debt, the suspect SR charged the injured party with an alleged additional debt in the amount of 9.000 euros.
"The Police Directorate will continue with intensive activities to detect, investigate and prosecute all forms of crime, including criminal acts of usury, which exploit the difficult financial situation, difficult circumstances and needs of citizens in order to obtain illegal material gain," it was announced.
