Vidoje Stanišić reacted to the article "Stanišić was released from appearing for trial on the basis of a false report" which was published today on the Vijesti portal.
The text states, among other things, that the Police Directorate announced that Budva police officers had solved the case of falsifying a medical report used by Stanišić to justify his absence from the trial.
According to official data, criminal charges have been filed against doctor Mitar Radulović (45) from Budva and clinic director Vanja Banićević (49).
We are reporting Stanišić's reaction in full:
"Regarding the text published in the 'Black Chronicle' column, which states that I did not undergo a medical examination and that the medical documentation was prepared based on false information, I hereby categorically deny all the claims made as untrue, unverified and tendentious.
It is true that during the aforementioned period I was personally in Budva, where I was staying, and during that time interval I duly attended a health institution and was examined by a competent doctor. There is proper and credible medical documentation regarding the examination performed, which unequivocally confirms that the examination was performed, which is why the allegations that I was not present, as well as the claims about the alleged falsification of medical documentation, are completely untrue.
Along with this denial, I am submitting medical documentation as proof of the examination performed, from which it can be clearly determined that the health service was provided in accordance with the law and the rules of the medical profession.
By publishing claims that medical documentation was falsified or prepared without my presence, the public is misled, as well as violating the professional and business integrity and reputation of the aforementioned health institution, the treating specialist and the entire medical staff, who performed their work conscientiously, responsibly and in accordance with applicable regulations.
I would like to emphasize in particular that the disputed text is obviously based on one-sided and unverified information, without fact-checking and without giving me the opportunity to present my side of the story, which violates the basic principles of professional and responsible journalism.
I believe that the published information is untrue, that it has caused me harm, jeopardized my personal reputation and integrity, and caused serious consequences for the healthcare institution and the doctor who acted in this specific case.
"At the same time, I demand from the competent state authorities to conduct a complete and impartial review of all facts and the entire case, in order to determine the actual factual situation and eliminate all unfounded suspicions that have been expressed in public," Stanišić stated.
