Fugitive Beranec Vuk Vulević was arrested today in Belgrade, the director of the Police Directorate (UP) Lazar Šćepanović officially confirmed to "Vijesti".

He also announced that Vulević was deprived of his liberty based on an arrest warrant issued for him by Montenegro.

"And based on official communication and correspondence between the two countries - Montenegro and Serbia," Šćepanović told "Vijesti".

"Vijesti" reported earlier today that multiple sources confirmed that Vulević was allegedly arrested in Belgrade.

Allegedly, he had forged documents with him. Allegedly, these were Kosovo identity cards in the name of Vladimir Ilić.

One of the sources previously said that Vulević was handcuffed by officers of the NCB Interpol Belgrade in a secret operation.

He was deprived of his liberty on the basis of an arrest warrant issued for him by the NCB Interpol Podgorica.

Montenegrin police are searching for Vulević on suspicion that he is part of the organized crime group of Vaso Ulic and Radoje Zvicer.

Vulević is a Montenegrin citizen, but he also has a Serbian passport, so his extradition to Montenegro will be sought during further criminal proceedings and cooperation between the two ministries of justice.

Vuk Vulević is identified in police documents as the leader of the Berane organized crime group, which closely cooperates with the Kavač clan.

An international Interpol red notice was issued for him in September 2024 after the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) opened an investigation into Operation "General" in July of that year.

The SDT accused Vulević of being part of an international network, led by Radoje Zvicer and Vaso Ulic, that attempted to smuggle around 2,5 tons of cocaine from South America to Europe and Australia.

Through communication analysis on the Sky application, SDT connects Beranca with tracking the routes of these shipments of valuable drug cargoes from Latin America to Europe and Australia.

During the two years since the opening of the investigation in Operation "General", the Montenegrin police have conducted numerous searches of locations in northern Montenegro in search of Vulević, but these searches have not yielded any results in locating him.

Over the past few months, security services have had intelligence that Vulević has been hiding in Serbia the entire time.

The statement added that a warrant has been issued for Vulević by the High Court in Belgrade, Special Department for Organized Crime, for the criminal offenses charged by the Montenegrin judiciary, including the creation of a criminal organization and two criminal offenses of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs.

"As well as serving a six-month prison sentence for the criminal offense of illegal possession of weapons under the Criminal Code of Montenegro. During his arrest, forged personal documents issued in Kosovo were found on him, which is why, by order of the competent prosecutor's office, criminal charges will be filed against him due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of forging a document. The police confiscated two mobile phones from VV and informed the Third Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade about everything. VV will be brought to the Special Department for Organized Crime of the Higher Court in Belgrade," reads a statement from the Serbian Ministry of the Interior, headed by Ivica Dačić.

The Police Directorate (PD) announced on June 24 that during the search for Vulević, police found cocaine, fired projectiles, shell casings, targets, and an off-road vehicle smuggled from another country in northern Montenegro.

The UP statement from June 24th states that OKG member Vuk Ivanović and operationally interesting person (OIL) Vlajko Laban were arrested for insulting and belittling police officers.
