Šćepanović: Montenegro's results in the fight against organized crime and corruption are appreciated at the highest level

Today's Montenegro is not only a reliable partner that responsibly fulfills its international obligations, but also a state whose results in the fight against organized crime and corruption are recognized and appreciated at the highest international level, announced the Director of the Police Administration (UP) Lazar Šćepanović.

The UP announced that during his official visit to the United States of America (USA), the Director of the Police Administration, Lazar Šćepanović, met with INTERPOL President Lukas Filip.

"The meeting represents another confirmation of the strong international reputation that the Police Directorate enjoys thanks to the concrete results achieved in the fight against organized crime, corruption and all forms of cross-border crime, as well as the intensification of international police cooperation. During the conversation, the Police Directorate's commitment to strengthening its partnership with INTERPOL was particularly emphasized, with the assessment that visible and measurable results have been achieved that have been recognized by international partners and represent a significant contribution to regional and global security," the statement said.

The UP added that Šćepanović informed Filip "about plans to further strengthen the international presence of the Police Directorate, stating that the procedure for sending a Montenegrin liaison officer to INTERPOL is underway, which will further improve operational cooperation, exchange of intelligence and coordination in the fight against international crime."

We are faced with the continuation of reforms and the additional strengthening of our international presence through the establishment of the function of a liaison officer at INTERPOL, because we believe that modern security challenges can only be addressed through strong partnerships, trust, innovative solutions and joint action," said Šćepanović.

The UP statement also states that the interlocutors "expressed their willingness to further improve cooperation through more intensive exchange of information, joint operations and capacity development, with a shared assessment that international police cooperation remains one of the key pillars of an effective response to transnational security threats."
