A minor injured in a traffic accident on the Lipci-Grahovo road has serious head and chest injuries and is undergoing intensive treatment at the Clinical Center of Montenegro, the Ministry of Health announced.
The patient treated at the Kotor Clinical Hospital Center has chest injuries and rib fractures. He is in stable condition, as are the remaining 14 injured, who are hospitalized at the Vaso Ćuković Special Hospital in Risan.
A 21-year-old girl has succumbed to injuries sustained in today's traffic accident. She and all the injured passengers from the overturned minibus are Serbian citizens.
"A total of 17 people were injured in the traffic accident, of which one person, despite all the efforts of the medical teams and the resuscitation measures implemented, died as a result of the injuries sustained. Immediately upon receiving information about the accident, all available capacities of the Montenegrin healthcare system were activated, and teams from the Emergency Medical Service of Montenegro, the 'Vaso Ćuković' Special Hospital in Risan, the Kotor Clinical Hospital Center and the Clinical Center of Montenegro were involved in caring for the injured," the Ministry of Health announced.
They said that, thanks to the rapid response, good organization, and high level of coordination of all involved health institutions and services, the injured were promptly triaged, medically cared for, and transported in accordance with the severity of their injuries and medical indications.
Fourteen patients are currently hospitalized in the hospital in Risan and, according to the latest information, they are in stable health and under continuous supervision by medical teams.
"One injured person with chest injuries and rib fractures was treated at the Kotor Clinical Hospital Center. After conducting diagnostics, it was determined that there were no signs of life-threatening complications, and the patient's vital parameters are stable and he is under further medical supervision," the statement reads.
They said that one minor was transported to the KCCG, where after admission, a complete diagnosis was carried out and adequate medical assistance was provided. "The patient was diagnosed with severe head and chest injuries, and is undergoing intensive treatment, with continuous supervision by a multidisciplinary medical team and the application of necessary treatment measures."
They said that the Ministry of Health, in coordination with health institutions, continues to monitor the health condition of all injured people and to provide the necessary support in their further care.
"This difficult event has once again demonstrated the importance of the preparedness, organization and functionality of the Montenegrin healthcare system, as well as the high level of professionalism, responsibility and coordination of all healthcare services involved in caring for the injured. The timely response of emergency medical teams, efficient cooperation between hospital institutions and coordination with other competent services enabled all injured to be adequately cared for and to be provided with the necessary medical assistance as soon as possible," the statement reads.
The Ministry of Health expressed special gratitude to the healthcare workers of the Emergency Medical Services Institute of Montenegro, the Vaso Ćuković Special Hospital in Risan, the Kotor Clinical Hospital Center, the Clinical Center of Montenegro, as well as all other services that "with their professional and responsible engagement contributed to an efficient response in this difficult situation."
