Murić's detention extended by two months

The detention of Vehid Murić, suspected of murdering three people, has been extended by two months, the Supreme Court announced.

As they stated, the Supreme Court panel, deciding on the proposal of the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, issued a decision extending the defendant's detention until September 21, 2026.

According to the allegations in the investigation order and the case files, Murić is reasonably suspected of having committed the criminal offense of aggravated murder, by brutally killing Nezrim and Denis Hot and Kenan Miraljemović on April 20, 2026 in Podgorica, in the house where he had previously stayed with the injured parties, using a kitchen knife, by inflicting multiple stab wounds on their heads, necks and bodies.

"The Supreme Court extended the defendant's detention due to the risk of flight, taking into account that after committing the crime, he left the scene, fled and intended to leave Montenegro, as well as the fact that this is a particularly serious crime due to the manner of its commission and the consequences that occurred," they announced.

The defendant was initially remanded in custody by a decision of the investigating judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica dated April 24, 2026, and extended by a decision of the panel of that court dated May 20, 2026.

According to this decision of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, detention may last until September 21st of this year.
