The investigating judge of the Basic Court in Kotor, Špiro Pavićević, ordered the detention of up to one month for M.LJ. (born 1958) from Kotor on suspicion that he, as a minibus driver, caused a traffic accident in the town of Lipci on July 12th.
M.Lj. was remanded in custody due to reasonable suspicion that he committed a criminal offense - serious offenses against the safety of public transport.
This was confirmed to "Vijesti" in the Kotor court.
Pavicevic questioned the suspect in the presence of his defense attorney, accepted the prosecution's proposal, and ordered his detention.
The Kotor Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) previously announced that, based on their proposal, the investigating judge ordered the detention of M.Lj., suspected of causing a traffic accident as a driver on July 12, 2026 in the town of Lipci.
As they stated, the acting state prosecutor issued an order to conduct an investigation, during which all the circumstances of the accident in question will be determined.
They add that the public will be informed in a timely manner about all decisions made in the further course of the procedure.
The accident that occurred on Sunday, July 12th, involved one vehicle, resulting in one death and 16 injuries.
"The traffic accident occurred when the minibus, which was traveling from the direction of Nikšić, made contact with a stone slope located along the road, on the right side of the roadway, causing the vehicle to overturn," the Police Directorate announced at the time.
