Police officers have filed criminal charges against two people for illegal logging and construction in the north of the country.

As announced by the Police Directorate, officers of the Mojkovac Security Department, in coordination with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office (ODT) in Bijelo Polje, filed a criminal complaint against a resident of Mojkovac, Lj. V., on reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of forest theft.

"It is suspected that this person illegally cut down trees in the state forest at the Uroševina location in April 2024, thereby causing material damage to the Forest and Hunting Management Administration," the statement says.

It is alleged that officers from the Bijelo Polje Security Department filed a criminal complaint with the ODT in that city against fellow citizen ET due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of constructing a structure without a building permit and documentation.

"It is suspected that during 2024, ET began construction of two buildings - weekend houses with associated terraces - on cadastral plot number 3765/2 KO Bijelo Polje, contrary to the provisions of the law, without a previously submitted application and the prescribed construction documentation," the police said.
