Border police at Podgorica Airport arrested Russian citizens MT (45) and RG (21), who attempted to travel to Milan with forged French residence permits.
The police checked the two individuals during a passenger screening on a foreign airline flight from Podgorica to Milan.
"Given that citizens of the Russian Federation require a visa or residence permit to enter and reside in the Republic of Italy, the aforementioned persons presented French residence permits. Due to doubts about their authenticity, a detailed border control was carried out at the second line of border checks, which determined that they were forged French residence permits," the Police Directorate announced.
The police officers took statements from MT, who said that he had purchased the forged French residence permit he had presented from a person in Bosnia and Herzegovina for 600 euros.
By order of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, MT and RG were arrested due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of forging a document.
