Ćorović and Lazarević suspected of abuse of official position

The police have filed a criminal complaint against Bosniak Party MP Jasmin Ćorović on suspicion that he abused his official position while he was the secretary of the Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje.

A report for the same criminal offense was filed against Danijela Lazarević from Bijelo Polje, an independent advisor for environmental protection at the Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje.

"The criminal offense was, as suspected, committed in such a way that J.Ć., in his capacity as Secretary of the Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, and DL, in his capacity as an independent advisor for environmental protection in the aforementioned Secretariat, exceeded the limits of their official powers and issued decisions approving the environmental impact assessment studies for the exploitation of technical and construction stone from the 'Kurilo' and 'Bioča' deposits, although, as suspected, they were not competent to issue such decisions," the Police Directorate announced.

It is added that police officers of the Regional Security Center "North", in coordination with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, took a number of criminal measures and actions, analyzed official documentation and other evidence, during which facts and circumstances were established that indicate the existence of grounds for suspicion that the reported persons committed the criminal offense in question.

"It is suspected that J.Ć., while performing his duties as Secretary of the Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, acting together with DL, gave consent to the environmental impact assessment studies for the surface exploitation of technical and construction stone from the 'Kurilo' deposit, as well as for the exploitation of technical and construction stone from the 'Bioča' deposit, with accompanying stone processing facilities and an asphalt base production plant, although granting such consents, according to the established facts, was not within the jurisdiction of that body. As is suspected, in this way, the reported persons, by exceeding the limits of their official powers, enabled the exercise of rights and benefits to the companies DOO 'Konstruktor Group' Bijelo Polje and DOO 'Bemax', while any damage caused, as well as other facts of importance for the criminal proceedings, will be determined in the further course of the proceedings," the police statement reads.
