The police identified and arrested RV (64) from Podgorica, who is suspected of repeatedly sending letters to the Parliament of Montenegro, individual MPs and other bodies, with various contents, for which European Union MP Nikola Zirojević said he felt threatened.
The Police Directorate announced that officers of the Regional Security Center "Centar" - Security Department Podgorica, after several days of activities, identified the person suspected of sending a letter addressed to the European Union.
"We would like to remind you that on July 22, 2026, officers of the Police Administration - Security Department Podgorica, after seeing the announcement by MP Nikola Zirojević in the media regarding the aforementioned letter, spontaneously invited MP Zirojević to the police premises in order to provide information for the record regarding the event in question. On the said day, upon invitation, MP Zirojević entered the premises of the Security Department Podgorica and, in the information collected from the citizen, confirmed for the record that the letter, addressed to the European Union, had arrived at the premises of the Club of Deputies of this political alliance on July 20, 2026. On that occasion, he explained why he believed that the content of the letter referred to him, saying that he felt threatened due to the content of this letter. The police informed the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica about all of the above on the same day," the Police Administration said in a statement.
As it is further stated, in order to establish all the facts, police officers took a series of measures and actions, including the seizure of video surveillance, searches of buildings at two locations and other activities, in coordination with the competent prosecutor.
"Overall activities resulted in the identification of RV as the person suspected of having sent the aforementioned letter addressed to the European Union," the police said.
After consultations with the prosecutor, RV was arrested and taken to the competent prosecutor's office with a criminal complaint on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of endangering the security of MP Nikola Zirojević.
