European Union MP Nikola Zirojević thanked the Police Directorate officers for their kindness and professionalism, but said that he could not say the same for the management, after RV (64) from Podgorica was arrested earlier today, suspected of sending him threatening letters.
"First of all, I have the need and obligation to thank all the extremely professional officers of the Police Directorate, both those with whom I had direct communication, and those who took measures and actions in the background to identify the person in question and to keep my family and I safe. These people, who work in incredibly difficult conditions, have shown the highest degree of kindness and professionalism. The same cannot be said for the management," Zirojević said in a press release.
He added that they are only halfway there.
"As far as I understand, the evidence against the said person is quite strong, but it remains to be seen what will happen in court. I will not be revealing any information about the person today, and I believe that special emphasis will be placed on his motivation to commit the said crime," Zirojević added.
The European Union representative accused the Police Directorate, led by Director Lazar Šćepanović, of using this case for self-promotion.
"One thing is interesting - the PR team of the Police Directorate sent a press release to the media and it was published before the officer who was handling the case (as polite and professional as possible) managed to inform me of the outcome from the pile of work he was overloaded with every day. This fact also speaks to the need for self-promotion by Master Šćepanović, who is doing something, while the heads of thirty-year-old young men are falling in front of his nose.
"PS I am still waiting for an answer to the question posed in accordance with the provisions of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament and the Law on Parliamentary Oversight in the Field of Security and Defense," he concluded.
