The Basic State Prosecutor's Office, after issuing a decision in the case initiated against Bosniak Party officials and MPs Jasmin Ćorović will decide whether there will be any need to send a request to the Parliament to lift his parliamentary immunity.

The Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje stated in its response to "Vijesti" that the investigation process is underway, and that only after the hearing and the evidence collected will they make a decision in the case.

"We inform you that an investigation is underway, in which, after collecting evidence and questioning the suspect and witnesses, it will be assessed whether there are legal conditions for further action, and a legal decision will be made based on the results of the checks," the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje wrote in its response.

On July 21, the Police Directorate filed a criminal complaint against Bosniak Party MP Jasmin Ćorović on suspicion that he allegedly abused his official position while serving as Secretary of the Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje.

If the prosecution assesses in further criminal proceedings that the Police Directorate's suspicions are well-founded, it could initiate proceedings to remove the parliamentary immunity of the Bosniak Party official.

In that case, the Bijelo Polje Public Prosecutor's Office would have to submit a request to the Assembly, and then the Administrative Board would consider the request and make a proposal on which a decision would be made by majority vote at the plenum.

The criminal complaint filed by the Police Directorate also included Danijela Lazarevic from Bijelo Polje, an independent advisor for environmental protection at the Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development, who is charged with the criminal offense of abuse of official position.

According to police suspicions, Ćorović and Lazarević, exceeding the limits of their official authority, provided illegal benefits to the companies "Konstruktor Group" Bijelo Polje and "Bemax".

The Police Directorate announced that the suspects issued decisions approving environmental impact assessment studies, which relate to the exploitation of technical and construction stone from the "Kurilo" and "Bioča" deposits.

The UP application claims that the Secretariat for Rural and Sustainable Development of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje was not competent at all to adopt such decisions.

The police stated in a statement that during their work on this case, and in coordination with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, they carried out a number of criminal measures and actions.

"On that occasion, official documentation, as well as other evidence, were analyzed, and facts and circumstances were determined which, according to the police, indicate the existence of grounds for suspicion that the reported persons committed the criminal offense they are charged with," the UP announced.

In the case of the "Bioča" deposit, the consent, as stated, also referred to accompanying facilities intended for stone processing, as well as a plant for the production of asphalt base.

A 30-year concession is being prepared for the Lješnica-Bioča technical and construction stone deposit near Bijelo Polje, with the planned exploitation of more than two million cubic meters of reserves.

The projected annual production is up to 20.000 cubic meters of solid rock mass, or about 30.000 cubic meters of aggregates, while the estimated production value for the exploitation period is around 15,05 million euros.

The data is provided in the information on the preparation of a public announcement for submitting bids for the award of a concession contract for this deposit, which was adopted by the Government at the end of July this year.

The aim of preparing concession documents is to initiate a public bidding process to select the most favorable bidder who will receive the right to explore and exploit non-metallic mineral resources.

The deposit is located in the gorge of the Lješnica River, about 1,5 kilometers upstream from the village of Bioča, approximately 20 kilometers from Bijelo Polje and 15 kilometers from Berane. The concession area covers an area of ​​about 11,96 hectares.

At this location, exploitation of technical and construction stone had previously taken place, based on a concession agreement from 2009.

According to the Study on the Classification, Categorization and Calculation of Technical and Construction Stone Reserves, which was prepared in 2024 by the Institute for Geological Research Podgorica for the needs of the company "Montenegroput" from Bijelo Polje, significant stone reserves have been identified.

Research has shown that these are high-quality carbonate rocks - massive limestones of Middle Triassic age, suitable for the production of construction aggregates, concrete, asphalt concrete, crushed stone and materials for civil engineering and hydraulic engineering.

"The dirty campaign has begun"

After the report, Ćorović said that the election political campaign had already begun and that it would be "very dirty".

"This is absolutely politically motivated pressure. We have already seen a dirty way of dealing with political opponents. You understand, the election campaign has begun. It will be very dirty," Ćorović wrote.

He added that "anyone can file a complaint today, but they need to wait for a final verdict."

"I am convinced that justice is on our side. But someone is definitely counting on the slowness of justice and the speed of bombastic headlines in order to achieve the desired goal - political damage, not justice," said a Bosniak Party official.
