The Tivat police arrested two officers of the municipal police, SB (53) and PG (43), on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of abuse of official position, to the detriment of a citizen of the United Kingdom and the Municipality of Tivat.
This was announced today by the Police Administration (UP).
As stated in the statement, it is suspected that SB and PG committed the criminal offense by, as employees of the Municipal Police Service of the Municipality of Tivat, on August 6, 2026, at the turning area towards the Tivat Airport parking lot, controlling the injured party, a citizen of the United Kingdom, who was driving a passenger motor vehicle.
"On that occasion, as is suspected, by illegally abusing their official position and authority, they filled in the data for a violation from the Road Traffic Safety Act, which relates to the prohibition of stopping and parking, on an invalid misdemeanor warrant, and collected a fine in the amount of 60 euros from the injured party, which they allegedly kept and thus obtained unlawful material gain," the statement states.
Tivat police officers, the UP added, received a report on August 11, 2026 from the Municipal Police of the Municipality of Tivat, which, through the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Montenegro, received a complaint from an injured citizen of the United Kingdom regarding the actions of the reported municipal police officers.
"Along with the complaint, as determined, an invalid misdemeanor order for improper detention and parking was submitted, based on which the injured party was charged the amount of 60 euros. After taking the necessary criminal measures and actions and seizing relevant documentation, police officers collected information from SB and P. G in the official premises of the Tivat Security Department," it is stated.
The police added that, on the orders of the state prosecutor, both men were arrested and criminal charges were filed against them.
