Increased controls at Podgorica and Tivat airports: 55 measures taken due to identified irregularities

The Border Police "Centar", in cooperation with the Podgorica police, the Labor Inspectorate, the Tax Administration, the Road Traffic Inspectorate and the Institute of Metrology, conducted increased control of taxi service providers, rent-a-car providers, as well as persons who perform activities for legal entities and entrepreneurs in the Podgorica Airport area, with a special focus on controlling movement and residence in the border crossing area.

This was announced today by the Police Administration (UP).

On that occasion, as stated, due to the identified irregularities, 53 measures were taken, as follows: officers of the Border Police Station II - Podgorica Airport issued eight misdemeanor warrants for violations of the Law on Border Control, which relate to movement and staying in the border crossing area without an appropriate permit.

"Police officers of the traffic patrol of the Podgorica Security Department issued 13 misdemeanor warrants for violations of the Law on Road Traffic Safety; Tax Administration officers issued four misdemeanor warrants, in the amount of 2.000 euros each, for violations of the Law on Fiscalization in the Sale of Products and Services; road traffic inspectors issued six misdemeanor warrants, in the total amount of 4.000 euros, for violations of the Law on Road Transport; Metrology Inspection officers took 22 measures, of which eight decisions were issued to eliminate irregularities, while 14 misdemeanor warrants were issued in the total amount of 3.480 euros, in accordance with the Law on Metrology and the Law on Inspection Supervision," the UP statement states.

As the police add, the Border Police "South" - Border Police Station II Tivat, in cooperation with the competent inspection services of the Municipality of Tivat, conducted increased control of taxi service providers, rent-a-car providers, as well as persons who perform activities for legal entities and entrepreneurs in the area of ​​Tivat Airport.

On that occasion, 12 people were checked, and two measures were taken due to the irregularities found.

"The road traffic inspector issued a misdemeanor order in the amount of 1.500 euros for a violation of the Law on Road Transport, while the competent municipal inspection issued a misdemeanor order in the amount of 100 euros for an established traffic violation. The Police Directorate will continue to conduct increased controls at airports in Montenegro in the coming period, in cooperation with state administration and local self-government bodies, with the aim of controlling the legality of activities, combating established irregularities and creating a safe and orderly environment for all users of airport services," the statement concludes.
