Budva police arrested SM (29) from Herceg Novi, who is suspected of robbing a casino in that city.
The Police Directorate announced that the suspect is a repeat offender in the area of property crime.
They said that on August 2, the police in Budva were notified that a criminal act of robbery had been committed at the casino on Mainski put.
"On that occasion, it is suspected that an unknown person, at gunpoint, stole money in the amount of around 4.000 euros from the employee. Immediately after the report, officers of the Budva Criminal Police Station, in coordination with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, took a series of measures and actions aimed at identifying and finding the perpetrator," the statement reads.
They said that as a result of continuous police activities, a targeted operational-tactical action, "Ambush", was carried out on August 18, when SM was located and brought to the official premises.
"During a physical examination, police officers found and confiscated a large quantity of 'xalol' tablets from SM. After criminal processing and gathering information, SM was deprived of his liberty, on the order of the state prosecutor, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of robbery," the police added.
The arrested SM was registered as a repeat offender in the area of property crime, due to a previous robbery in Budva, for which he served a four-year prison sentence.
The suspect, along with a criminal complaint, was brought to the competent state prosecutor's office within the legally prescribed time limit.
"Officers of the Budva Security Department continue their intensive activities to investigate crimes with the highest degree of social danger, with the aim of identifying and prosecuting perpetrators and improving the safety of citizens and their property," the statement reads.
