The Head of the Forestry Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Ranko Kankaraš, made serious accusations to the police against the work of the prosecution, because they had received all the evidence of illegal logging, emphasizing that his and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Andrija Delić, had their security threatened.
Kankaraš gave a statement at the Security Department (OB) of Berane regarding the fact that earlier today Delić was verbally attacked and threatened in the forest in the village of Čuka near Andrijevica, on the Trešnjevik mountain pass, by the owner of the "Gojković" warehouse, Vasilije Gojković, and his son Nemanja from Berane. The verbal attack occurred during a control of that department that the State Secretary was carrying out together with Kankaraš, who was not nearby at the time.
"I believe that the attack is a consequence of the prosecutor's inaction over a long period of time, to which a lot of evidence of illegal logging and illegal timber trade has been submitted. I agree with Delić that our security is at risk, because these are individuals who have gained millions by stealing forests, and that the relevant prosecutor's offices possess this information and evidence," Kankaraš said in a statement at the Berane Police Headquarters.
He told the police that he and Delić came to Andrijevica, to the Oblo drvo area, after numerous reports from Andrijevica citizens about illegal activities in forestry, with the aim of exposing them and obtaining material evidence.
He pointed out that, in order to work more efficiently, he separated from Delić and went to the other side, and that he informed forestry inspector Hakija Jasavić about the plan to photograph the outer sides of the cut area.
"After some time, I received a phone call from Andrija Delić, who informed me in a panicked voice that two people who introduced themselves as the Gojkovićs (Vasilije and his son Nemanja Gojković) had arrived at the scene and were threatening him, which prevented him from taking further action and made him feel threatened. Considering that I had previously received indirect threats from these people, I immediately told Andrija to calm down, that I would come to him in about 15 minutes so that I could have time to inform the police, establish security and prevent the conflict from escalating into more serious consequences," said Kankaraš.
He emphasized that he had previously received indirect threats from these individuals and that he knew that he was also their target.
