Police in Kotor have arrested a 26-year-old man from Budva on suspicion of committing the crime of illicit sexual activity against a 14-year-old girl, the Police Directorate announced.
According to the statement, it is suspected that the suspect committed the crime in early June this year abroad, in a city where the group of which he and the girl were members were visiting.
The incident was reported to the police by a family member upon the girl's return to Montenegro.
"Police officers immediately acted upon the report and notified the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica of the incident, on whose orders they acted. A statement was collected from the reported person regarding the aforementioned circumstances. Police officers from the Kotor Security Department, in cooperation with officers from the Budva Security Department, collected facts and obtained evidence indicating grounds for suspicion that the suspect committed the criminal offense for which he was reported," the statement reads.
It is added that the suspect was brought to the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica today, with a criminal complaint, on suspicion of having committed the aforementioned criminal offense.
