Budva police arrested Danilo Džekulić (22) from Kula, who is suspected of having been sent to kill Budva resident Ognjen Kažanegra in a pub in Budva today.

The attack was prevented by Kažanegra when he spotted, then overpowered and disarmed the young man, who had entered the bar with a loaded pistol and the intention of killing him.

"Vijesti" was unofficially told by the Police Directorate that they had identified the attacker as Danilo Džekulić from Kula, but that they had to wait for the results of international checks through Interpol channels in order to determine the suspect's identity with certainty.

According to information from "Vijesti", Kažanegra noticed a suspicious young man when he entered the bar and immediately headed towards him. He jumped on him, knocked him to the floor and prevented him from taking the gun out of his pocket, which was later determined to be loaded.

The suspect allegedly had a picture of Ognjen and his brother Mladen on his phone, and that he was supposed to convey "greetings from Vračar" to them.

There were several friends in the bar with whom Kažanegra was sitting.

Last summer, Kažanegra was on a deckchair next to Marko Ljubiša Kan when an attempt was made to assassinate the man from Budva.

Arrested Danilo Džekulić has been wanted since June 22nd of this year after the murder of Darko Vesković, known as Prika, who was killed in a cafe in the Belgrade neighborhood of Komodraž.

On the last day of June, the Police Directorate announced that they were looking for Džekulić and Nikolas Kovač from Kula due to the murder of Vesković, on suspicion that they were hiding in Montenegro, and at that time they also provided the media with a photo of Džekulić, appealing to citizens to provide any information and knowledge that may be relevant to finding them.

On that day, the Police announced that Rožajka residents Enes Nokić (45), Haris Mujević (26) and Aldin Mujević (34) and another Russian were arrested on suspicion that, after the murder of Vesković in Belgrade, they enabled the suspects in that murder to illegally enter Montenegro and provided them with logistical support for their escape and hiding.

Vesković was killed on June 22nd in a cafe in the Belgrade neighborhood of Kumodraž.

Three Rožaje residents are suspected of facilitating the illegal crossing of the state border from Serbia to Montenegro for two suspects in the murder of Vesković, outside the official border crossing, and then organizing their transport from Rožaje to Podgorica.

This summer, the police found several locations where Kovač and Džekulić had stayed.

The Police Directorate (PD) announced earlier today that today, at the call of citizens, Budva police officers took a foreign citizen into custody at a catering facility in that city, who is suspected of being in the facility with the intention of committing a serious crime.

"This person was previously subdued and detained by citizens in the building suspected of being the target of the attack, after which the police were notified of the incident. Police officers found a firearm - a pistol - on this person, after which he was brought to the official police premises. Information is being collected and other measures and actions are being taken to determine all the circumstances of the incident in coordination with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kotor," the statement said.

The UP added that they have the identity of the suspected foreign national, and further activities are underway, the outcome of which the public will be informed in a timely manner.
