Svetlana Pajkić (40), born in Sarajevo and residing in Tivat, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to kill MK from that town on the Montenegrin coast.
The Police Directorate announced that its officers in Tivat solved the attempted murder in a short time.
"It is suspected that last night, September 11, 2026, at around 11:00 p.m., in a catering facility in the Kalimanj settlement in Tivat, after a brief argument, SP stabbed MK in the chest with a knife, with the intention of killing him. The incident was then reported to the police, after which officers from the Tivat Security Department immediately went to the scene, at which time the police officers were informed that MK had injured himself with a knife, which the injured party confirmed. The state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, who led the investigation, also went to the scene. Traces and evidence were seized from the scene for expert examination," the statement said.
During further investigation, police officers, in coordination with the competent state prosecutor, came to suspect that this was not a case of self-inflicted injury, but that a criminal offense was committed against MK by Pajkić, the statement added.
"A statement was taken from SP at the police premises regarding the above circumstances. Other police and prosecutorial measures and actions were also taken. The suspect SP was, by order of the competent state prosecutor, deprived of her liberty on suspicion that she committed the criminal offense of attempted murder to the detriment of MK. She will, with a criminal report, be brought to the competent state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica within the legal deadline for further proceedings," the police statement said.
The police said that MK was hospitalized and that according to the information they have, his condition is stable.
