Female painters - from the collection of the Native Museum" is the name of the exhibition which, on the occasion of March 8, Women's Day, was opened in the Kolašin Cultural Center. Of the 99 artists whose works make up the collection of the National Museum, almost a third of the artistic creations belong to women. The majority of these works were created during the period of the painting colony "Grad na Tara".
"The exhibited paintings were made using oil on canvas, pastel on paper and watercolor techniques. With balanced airy light effects, they leave a poetic-lyrical impression on the viewer, which is characteristic of a woman painter," said Draginja Kujović, curator of the Native Museum.
The exhibition included 31 works, of which four are works by painters from the "Donor Painters" fund, and the rest were created within the painting colony "Grad na Tara".
The director of the Culture Center, Gorica Ilinčić, said that "we are talking about authors with a strong artistic personality and women who were created by civilization for endless possibilities of expression and experimentation in art."
The exhibition was officially opened by Milosav Bulatović, the President of the Municipality, who said that "the power of a woman as an artist is specific".
Uroš and Kolašin
In 2010, a large exhibition of paintings and drawings by the recently deceased painter Uroš Tošković was organized in the same space where the exhibition was opened, Kujovićeva arranged.
"His works are part of the legacy of the Native Museum and were created through his participation in the 'City on Tara' painting colony. He started participating in this event in 2007 at the invitation of the director of the Cultural Center, Branislav Jeknić. "Tošković often used to say that he found his lost artistic ego in Kolašin," she said.
Kujović also reminded that Tošković stayed in that city every summer until 2011. That's how the exhibition called "The Kolašin period of the painter Uroš Tošković" was created.
