When the National Library "Njegoš" from Nikšić and the Society of Friends of the Library "Njegoš" join forces, then poetry is born and an evening that lovers of verse can enjoy. That was the case the night before last in the City Hall in Nikšić, where an evening entitled "When a poet is born in Nikšić" was held, dedicated to Nikšić poets Vitomir Vito Nikolić, Dragan Radulović, Milan Dug Krivokapić and Gojko Janjušević.

The young reciters, Jovana Milić, Milena Šućur, Anastasija Marković and Miloš Zvicer more than successfully expressed the emotion of Nikšić's poets, while Anđela Tomić showed that Vito Nikolić's verses sound just as beautiful when they are sung. The young pianist Matija Bulajić was in charge of the musical background, while the moderators of the evening, Marijana Šćepanović and Ivan Lješković, introduced the audience to the lives of the four poets.

"The way in which these young people prepare all this and approach all ideas is pleasing. We have to admit that if we don't have them as participants then we haven't done anything. What better way to promote poetry than when you see that young people want to be part of such evenings. It is the greatest pleasure and an indicator that you are on the right path and doing the right things," said the director of the Library, Renata Bulajić.

Radoje Kandić, from the Society of Friends of the "Njegoš" Library, said that when choosing poets, they listen to both the voice of the audience and their own voice, because their goal is to bring both unjustly forgotten poets closer to the audience, as well as well-known ones who deserve to be read again and again.

"What makes us particularly happy is that we have included an unjustly marginalized poet, Gojko Janjušević, who, by describing only local circumstances, succeeded in elevating their experience to a higher level. Of course, no matter how much you talk about the remaining three poets, you can never tell everything," Kandic said.

The same actors also organized evenings dedicated to the "community of immortal poets" - Dušan Kostić, Mirko Banjević, Janko Đonović and Aleksandar-Les Ivanović, as well as the greatest dreamer, Sergej Jesenin. And there will be more such evenings, as they promise.

"This is just a warm-up. "Encouraged by the response of both the audience and the participants, we will continue to promote poetry so that we will organize at least one event every month," Kandić promised. In June, it will be an evening of Yugoslav poetry, also part of the Nikšić cultural scene, as well as previously organized evenings.
