The summer edition of the European Film Festival (EFF) begins on Saturday, July 20 in Žabljak. The festival is organized by the European Union in Montenegro, in cooperation with the Tourist Organization of Žabljak.
During the summer edition of the festival, which will last until Thursday, July 25, a total of six films of European production will be shown, and admission to each screening is free.
The summer edition in Žabljak is a prelude to the fifth, jubilee EFF, which will be organized in Podgorica and other Montenegrin municipalities during September and October.
"In the selection for this year's edition of the festival, there were films that represent contemporary European cinematography, awarded at numerous film screenings. Most of them were filmed in co-production with European countries, with significant support from European Union funds," said the media advisor at the Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro. The first in the repertoire is the film "King of Belgium", the screening of which starts on Saturday at 20 pm at the Cultural Center in Žabljak. This multiple award-winning Belgian-Dutch comedy/drama is an irresistible satire about the clash of worlds in which a Belgian monarch, lost in the Balkans, searches for a way home and finds himself.
The other five films will be shown every day until the end of the festival, also at 20 p.m. in the Culture Center in Zabljak. The citizens of Žabljak, tourists and residents of the surrounding towns will have the opportunity to watch the French drama "Bloody Milk", the Portuguese-French-Brazilian co-production "Diamantino", as well as three documentaries "The Silence of Others", "Stranger in Paradise" and "The Distant Barking of Dogs". .

"We are pleased to invite the people of Žabljak and their guests to visit the Summer edition of the European Film Festival and be the first in Montenegro to see carefully selected and awarded European films. It will be an opportunity to watch something new and different, films that are almost not available in traditional media or cinemas. We are looking forward to Saturday and the start of the first summer edition of the EFF in Žabljak," said Dramičanin.
During their visit to Žabljak, representatives of the Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro and the EU Info Center will organize the Day of the European Union, while socializing with the visitors. This will be an opportunity for those present to view the exhibition of EU projects in Montenegro, participate in a mini-prize quiz about the European Union and exchange opinions on various aspects of the EU's presence in Montenegro.
The meeting place and information desk of the EU Delegation and the EU Info Center will be located in front of the Culture Center from 17 p.m., while the exhibition of EU projects "Montenegro and the EU – a partnership that lasts" will remain at the same place until August 3.
