Jubilee edition of the European Film Festival from September 10

The Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro and the EU Info Center are organizing the fifth anniversary edition of the European Film Festival, during which ten films will be shown in eight Montenegrin cities.

The festival begins in Podgorica on Tuesday, September 10 at 20 p.m., in the "Karver" bookstore, and will last for five days. The festival will be opened by EU Ambassador to Montenegro Aivo Orav and Secretary for Culture of the Capital City Ana Medigović.

"In the selection for this year's edition of the festival, there were films of contemporary European cinematography awarded at numerous film screenings, mostly shot in co-production with European countries, with significant financial support from the European Union," said Nadežda Dramičanin, media advisor at the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro. .

In addition to Podgorica, films will be shown in Ulcinj, Kotor, Petrovac, Bijelo Polje, Nikšić, Petnjica and Mojkovac. Every evening, except for the first one in Podgorica, two films will be shown at 20 and 22 p.m. and admission to all screenings is free.

The first in the repertoire is the film "King of Belgium", a multiple award-winning Belgian-Dutch comedy/drama, in which the Belgian monarch, lost in the Balkans, searches for a way home and finds himself. Visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to watch the French drama "Bloody Milk", the Portuguese-French-Brazilian co-production "Diamantino", the Czech film "Winter Flies", the Hungarian film "Out", as well as three documentaries "The Silence of Others", "Stranger in paradise" and "The distant barking of dogs".

In each city, one evening as part of the European Film Festival will be dedicated to Montenegrin film. In Podgorica, on this occasion, on Thursday, September 12, from 21:40 p.m., a conversation will be organized with the director of the Montenegrin Cinematheque, Andro Martinović, and the director, Ivan Marinović, on the topic of "Montenegrin film then and now".

"We are especially pleased that the repertoire includes two Montenegrin productions, "The Needle under the Threshold" by the young director Ivan Marinović and the film "Men" from 1963, directed by Milorad Milo Đukanović," said Dramičanin.

After the capital, the European Film Festival moves to Kotor. The films will be shown in the "Boka" cinema from September 17 to 21. In Ulcinj, films will be shown as part of the Seanema film festival from September 18 to 22. Then it's Petrovac's turn, where the European Film Festival will be organized from September 24 to 28 in the "Red Commune" Memorial House. Bijelo Polje will host the festival from September 30 to October 4 at the Vojislav Bulatović Strunjo Cultural Center, while the films will be shown at the Nikšić Theater from October 7 to 11. The European Film Festival will also visit Petnjica from October 14 to 18, and Mojkovac from October 21 to 25, where the films will be shown in local cultural centers.
