Ivan Salatić, winner of the "Mirko Kovač" award

Montenegrin director and screenwriter Ivan Salatić is the winner of this year's "Mirko Kovač" award for the best screenplay, and the award will be solemnized for the fifth time in Rovinj, on September 28 at the Gandusio Cinema, as the final program of the 6th Mirko Kovač Day.

The Mirko Kovač Award is awarded in four categories: for the best novel, for the best work by a young author, for the best book of essays and for the best screenplay for books and films published in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia during 2018.

This year, the jury was composed of: Predrag Antonijević, Vlaho Bogišić (president of the jury), Enver Kazaz and Dragan Radulović. The selectors for individual categories were Mića Vujičić (Novel), Tomislav Brlek (essay), Srđan V. Tešin (work by a young author) and Bruno Kragić (screenplay).

At its session in Belgrade on August 24, the jury unanimously decided that the prize for the best novel will be awarded to Josip Mlakić for the book "Skica u ledo" (Fraktura, 2018), the prize for the best work of a young author goes to Kristina Gavran for the work "Guitar of rosewood" (Disput, 2018), the winner of the prize for the best book of essays is Sinan Gudžević with the book "Maksmir i Mirogoj" (Fraktura, 2018),

The film "You have the night" directed by Ivan Salatić, whose screenplay received the aforementioned award, premiered last year in the official program of the Venice Film Festival. "You have the night" is Salatić's first feature film.
