"Poetry-steel-art" - that's the name of the multimedia event that was organized in front of the Nikšić Institute of Black Metallurgy (ICM). The first part was dedicated to the great poet Vitomir Vito Nikolić, while the second part of the evening was colored by the artists who create at ICM.
The facade of the Institute, an "architectural jewel", as said by the director of the Nikšić Museums and Galleries, Jelena Đukanović, MSc, is decorated with a mural with the image and verses of the poet Vito Nikolić.
"Sometimes I remember you from long ago, and something warm shines in my soul, like a good old song that happens to be sung," Nikolić "sang".
And another Nikolić - Ranko, director of the Institute, remembered the favorite song of his surname and "joined" Vit and steel.
"Today, the institute is the continuation of a famous tradition, additional refinement, and as a socially responsible company, it has the strength to give the local community a beautiful artistic evening and a mural by our Vito Nikolić," said the director of ICM, before the oldest production worker in the company solemnly unveiled mural painted by the painter Milena Krivokapić with the help of her sister Jelena.
"My wish was not only to convey Vito's portrait, faithfulness, which is also important, but to capture the whole bohemian atmosphere, which I hope was achieved with the background, the combination of colors," said Krivokapić, who was, as she said, extremely honored to be doing such a challenging mural.
"Vito deserved that his image should be found in the city and that there is another mural dedicated to him," said the painter.
The event was organized in cooperation with the Museums and Galleries of Nikšić and the Agency for Local Democracy.
"This architectural jewel of Nikšić belongs to the post-industrial heritage, which is very precious and which opened the door for artists. I would like to thank you as one of the artists who has been creating under this roof for nine years and where many exhibitions and works have been created. As artists, we can make our small contribution to create an artistic event like this for all our fellow citizens from time to time", said Đukanović, thanking the Institute for its hospitality, which "hosted" a large number of artists.
Ana Milović Jasikovac, on behalf of the Agency for Local Democracy, thanked the Institute for finding a common language and agreeing to the idea of contributing to the creation of the mural through the regional Clink project.
"Thanks to the professors who participated in the activities, Snježana Bošković, Tamara Janjušević and Marija Lazarević, to the artists who have been involved in the project from the start, Milena Krivokapić and Ivan Stamatović, and to everyone who supported our activities that put Nikšić on the European cultural map," she said. Jasikovac.
As part of the aforementioned project, a mural with the image of Socrates was made on the facade of the Faculty of Philosophy. The mural was done by Ivan Stamatović. After the unveiling of the mural, a poetry recital followed, and Vito's verses were spoken by Dragomir Draganić, an employee of the Institute, members of the Info point, the Literary Club "Poenta Poetika" and volunteers of the Alfa Center, with musical accompaniment by students of the "Dara Čokorilo" Music School.
Link of two bells - spiritual and scientific
A large number of artists have been creating in the premises of the Institute for more than a decade, and the people of Nikšić had the opportunity to see some of their works.
"Steel and art - the bond of two bells, spiritual and scientific. It happened finally and inevitably, I would say, something that at first glance, at first thought, could not happen. A symbiosis took place, a combination of laboratory and studio, a secret, solid and public connection. For more than a decade, we artists have been enjoying the hospitality of this institution without a single excess, ugly words, encountering the humanity and understanding of the people who, as the best hosts, have accepted us, that's why I would call this evening 'The evening of steel, humanity, artists and poetry,'" he said opening exhibition by the painter Miomir Mišo Vemić with the wish that the exhibition be only an introduction to the gallery life of the Institute.
