Proud that the City Theater is part of the Regional Union of Theaters, and during the previous days it hosted the first RUTA festival, the director of the City Theater, Dušan Kovačević, did not close the festival in Podgorica the night before last, but announced a new one, in Ljubljana, from April 14.
"I am very proud that in the time of cultural bulimia and global integration, when we diverge on many levels, RUTA becomes a strong cultural platform, which unites us and thus makes us stronger. It is important for both the artists and the audience that we develop in a broader framework. Nurturing the cultural unity, keeping the cultural identity and the richness of the language of each of us, this festival becomes a common one", said Kovačević on Saturday evening and expressed his special gratitude to everyone who contributed to the realization of the festival and showed support.
The director of the Ljubljana Municipal Theater, Barbara Hieng-Samobor, could not be in Podgorica on Saturday evening and "accept the relay of RUTA Ljubljana", Kovačević read her message.
"From my experience and way of working in the city of Ljubljana, I know how great and crucial the power of connection is for success. That is why the initiative of the Belgrade Drama Theater, to create an alliance of six theaters from the region, seemed exciting and logical to us from the beginning. But we were definitely delighted to meet colleagues from certain theaters. So much diversity, but still a clear common goal and sincere interest. The RUTA festival, it seems, will already be a big and luxurious project in its first edition. We have a feeling that the members of all six teams, united around the same goal, possess enough passion for work, artistic curiosity and dedication, which will be needed to realize such a demanding project, as it were, overnight and with not many resources. The audience will have the opportunity to watch some of the most exciting performances of the participating theaters back-to-back. The fact that in this way young artists will also have the opportunity to confront theatrical practices and experiences seems very important to us. And of course - inspiration. We are looking forward to the experience of visiting, as well as the experience of hosting in the month of April in Ljubljana. Welcome!” said Hieng Samobor, among others.
The last evening of RUTA in Podgorica was rounded off by a performance hosted by the City Theater, Vida Ognjenović's "Kozocid", which, like every performance so far, delighted everyone present and earned a long round of applause and standing ovation.
