With the presentation of the mobile application "Turistiko" as part of the "Living culture" campaign, the Ministry of Culture completes the cycle of presentations of authors whose work was supported in the second competition for creative industries from the "Creative Montenegro" program.

"It is about a project that promotes the cultural heritage in an innovative way, in this particular case - the city of Kotor. Bearing in mind the importance and modularity of the platform itself, the support of the Ministry of Culture is aimed at the further affirmation of this tourist guide, i.e. on expanding the project to other parts of Montenegro", the announcement states.

Natalija Ojdanić is part of the team that worked on the development of the application and says that digitizing the long and extremely rich history of Kotor was a big challenge for them.

"Given that we are from Kotor, where cruise tourism is the most developed in Montenegro, we had the opportunity to often see tourists losing their orientation upon entering the Old Town. Through our application, we wanted to enable visitors to Kotor to experience 20 centuries of the history of this city in the right way", explains Ojdanić and notes that this is the first application of this type on our market. She especially points out that "Turistiko" can function even without an internet connection, and that it is available on Android and Apple platforms.

"The application contains an audio guide through the Old Town. In addition, through this application, various discounts can be obtained in shops and restaurants throughout Kotor. The audio guide was recorded in English, Italian, Russian, French and Spanish, and you can find 'Touristiko' (TouristiKo) on Google Play and the App Store," she says.

Ojdanić says that he will develop the project in the direction of expansion to other Montenegrin cities.

"To begin with, our target group was tourists who visit Kotor, and in the future we intend for 'Touristiko' to include other cities in our country, so that we can promote the cultural heritage of Montenegro in an even better way", emphasizes Ojdanić and adds that their idea is to support accessibility tourism in the further development of the application's content, i.e. tourism for people with reduced mobility.

The Ministry of Culture has announced the third call for co-financing of projects and programs in the field of creative industries and scientific research in accordance with the Action Plan of the "Creative Montenegro: Identity, Image, Promotion" program in 2020.

"Taking into account the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, and as part of the measures to support the field of culture, this year, in addition to the planned 100.000 euros, we will increase the amount of the fund for this competition by an additional 50.000. In this way, greater support was provided, and thus the sustainability of this important area of culture in the current circumstances", the Ministry of Culture said in a statement.
