"A universal aesthetic that brings people together is rarely found in the aesthetics of academic artistic formalism. More often, it is found in a pile of everyday objects that awaken our subconscious, causing collective nostalgia."

The virtual exhibition of the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts was opened tonight on the official Facebook page of the Association of Students of the Cetinje Academy. The first featured artist at the online exhibition of FLU students is Branka Kovačević, by combining painting and collage techniques she achieved her idea for creating these works.

"The original idea lies in my desire to combine fine art and kitsch, by transforming traditional painting into kitsch maximalist installations. In this way, I balance my attitude towards classic aesthetics on the one hand, and kitsch culture on the other. Also, I invite general thoughts about the influence of kitsch, its representation, its negative but also positive properties and one's own need for it," Kovačević wrote about her creativity. This online event will last 12 days, during which one author is scheduled to be presented each day, i.e. a FLU student. The artist also expressed her thoughts on the relationship between universal aesthetics and academic art.

"A universal aesthetic that brings people together is rarely found in the aesthetics of academic artistic formalism. More often, it is found in a pile of everyday objects that awaken our subconscious, causing collective nostalgia. I want to explore exactly that influence of nostalgia in today's society. The myth of past times as better and simpler is extremely powerful and dangerous and contributes to the greater development of kitsch. Although I make fun of kitsch culture to some extent, at the same time I enjoy its aesthetics to the point of unpleasantness," the artist wrote. The Cetinje Academy Student Association is a student organization founded in 2007, whose focus is student events of a cultural and artistic nature. Members of this organization are students from the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and the Music Academy.
