The collection of "Short Stories: Virpazar, Karuč, Godinje, Vranjina and Petnjica" was presented last night in online format at a panel discussion within the second day of the Adriatic Festival.
"Literature is a useful media for the popularization of some historical moments, more precisely the valorization of cultural heritage," said Sandra Vujović, one of the authors of the stories included in the collection.
The moderator of the panel held on the second day of the festival was playwright and poet Dragana Tripković, while the musical part of the festival was arranged by violinist Verica Čuljković, performing original songs from these localities.
Three authors of short stories Sandra Vujović, Marija Mihaljević and Tamara Senić spoke at the presentation of the collection, while the authors Andrija Ćetković, Tijana Rakočević, Jelena Nikezić and Aida Orahovac sent a short message in video form.
"I hope that institutions will recognize the quality of the young creators published in this collection and that they will continue to affirm quality outside our country," Rakočević said in a video message.
The authors reviewed the search for inspiration in the area of the Skadar Basin and Bihor, as well as the great cultural tradition of those areas.
Through their stories, they reminded of monuments and areas of cultural heritage that have been forgotten, as well as the influence of women in crafts.
"It was neither challenging nor difficult to build a character in my story, because Vranjina is specific in itself. The women who live there are great fishermen, which is part of the tradition, and that is unusual because patriarchy is respected in Montenegro," said Mihaljević about her story in which she portrayed a woman as an excellent fisherman.
The collection was published in a bilingual edition, which was realized through last year's competition within the project "Promotion of handicrafts, culture and eco-tourism" organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. The writers who participated in the preparation of the collection of short stories are from Montenegro, Italy and Albania, whose goal was the valorization of the territories included in the project.
